Silicon Monocrystalline Solar Panels

There are different kinds of Solar Panels; Silicon Monocrystalline, Silicon Polycrystalline, and Thin Film - Triple Junction.

Silicon Monocrystalline Solar Panels are the oldest technology of the three types of Solar Panels. Panels are made up of 36 single slices of Silicon connected in series which give 12 volts. Large amounts of energy are used in the production of Silicon Monocrystalline Solar Panels and the cost of the pure silicon crystals is high.

Silicon Monocrystalline Solar Panels are mounted in a rigid frame to protect the brittle and easily damaged silicon crystals. Efficiency is good compared to other types of Solar Panels, typically 12% to 16%.
